Icon Proximal
Icon Proximal enables caries treatment without drilling and without the unnecessary loss of healthy tooth structure. Thanks to microinvasive infiltration with a highly fluid plastic, caries can be stopped early on before invasive treatment becomes necessary – as part of a gentle and careful process.
Treatment of a partially cavitated proximal enamel lesion with a combination of infiltration and restoration
The infiltration method effectively stops incipient enamel lesions. If the lesions are partially cavitated, though, there is still a rough surface present after infiltration. The infiltrant does not contain any filler particles, making it impossible to restore the cavity and obtain a smooth proximal area. In these cases, a restoration procedure with a flowable composite could lead to a better result.

The use of elastic separators prior to proximal infiltration of primary enamel lesions
The infiltration concept (Icon) is a very effective treatment to prevent further progression of enamel hypomineralisation in small, non-cavitated primary carious lesions. The use of elastic orthodontic separators can simplify the treatment process by providing better visual control and access to the proximal areas.
