A game changer for young patients – because tooth substance is worth protecting
Treating developmental enamel abnormalities with invasive procedures like veneers? Far from ideal, especially for younger patients.
But there’s another way: DMG’s new holistic treatment concept offers gentle, effective and minimally invasive masking of enamel opacities!
FAQs
As a holistic treatment concept for developmental enamel opacities, the dental workflow includes the following steps and products:
- Optional: Professional tooth cleaning with the Flairesse prophylaxis system consisting of Flairesse Paste, Flairesse Gel or Flairesse Foam and Flairesse Varnish
- Precision-fit 3D-printed bleaching tray manufacture with LuxaPrint Ortho Flex and DentaMile
- Mild bleaching with Flairesse Bleaching Gel, available as a medical product with 5% or 10% CP
- Infiltration treatment with Icon Vestibular, consisting of Icon Etch, Icon Dry and Icon Infiltrant
What makes DMG’s holistic treatment concept for developmental enamel opacities so special is that the minimally invasive dental workflow can be used in young patients – and, if need be, into old age. Developmental enamel opacities are particularly problematic in childhood, as the altered structure of the tooth enamel is clearly visible and can have a significant impact on a child’s self-confidence, self-esteem, general satisfaction, social relationships and overall quality of life.1
However, invasive procedures like microabrasion or veneers aren’t an option for young patients. This is where DMG’s minimally invasive treatment concept offers a gentle and effective solution.

One of the key elements of the 3D-printed DentaMile bleaching trays is the gel reservoir. A precise reservoir edge seal positions the bleaching gel in a controlled manner and prevents it from spreading to the sensitive gums. This protects the gingiva from harm and guarantees efficient and safe bleaching.
The DentaMile bleaching tray differs significantly from a vacuum-formed tray here – with product properties that can only be achieved with the help of 3D printing.
The use of a bleaching gel containing carbamide peroxide reduces the brownish parts of organic protein structures. As a result, the teeth are visually whitened overall. However, in the case of developmental enamel opacities, the porous enamel has a different refractive index than the surrounding healthy enamel, meaning that white spots often remain visible. For a harmonious overall appearance, infiltration treatment with Icon Vestibular is a practical and often necessary addition.
