Insider Insights…

If you’re using Icon resin infiltration in your practice, meet Muhammad Abdelghanny, a fully qualified dentist with a passion for minimally invasive dentistry and DMG’s Clinical Support Specialist. Originally qualified in Egypt, Muhammad now supports UK&I clinicians in building their skills and confidence with Icon and the broader DMG product range, here he shares three things you should never compromise on...

Isolation is everything.
Whether your preference is a rubber dam, MiniDam, or LiquiDam, get it on and get it right. Icon is a moisture-sensitive procedure, and shortcuts here are the fastest way to a disappointing result.

Respect the 14-day rule with whitening.
If your patient has just finished a whitening cycle, the enamel needs time to rehydrate and stabilise before you treat with Icon. Treat too soon and you risk unreliable shade matching.

Interproximal cases demand patient education and documentation.
Icon is radiolucent, which means it won’t show up on X-rays. Talk your patient through it, get consent in writing, and keep meticulous clinical notes.
